Connecting Your NMI Account
Connecting Your NMI Account
Before you can accept credit card payments through CloudFFL, you need to connect your NMI (Network Merchants Inc.) account. This is a one-time setup that links your payment processor to your CloudFFL system.
What You Need Before You Start
- An active NMI merchant account (provided by your payment processor)
- Your Security Key (also called an API Key) — this lets CloudFFL communicate with NMI
- Your Tokenization Key — this allows customers' card numbers to be stored securely without exposing the actual card data
Where to Find Your Keys in NMI
- Log in to your NMI dashboard at
secure.nmi.com - Click Settings in the left-hand menu
- Click Security Keys
- Your Security Key (API Key) is listed on this page. If you do not have one, click Add a Security Key and select the appropriate permissions.
- Your Tokenization Key is listed in the same section. If you do not see one, click Add a Tokenization Key to generate it.
Keep your keys private. Your Security Key and Tokenization Key give direct access to your payment processing account. Never share them over email, paste them into a support chat, or store them in an unsecured document. Treat them like passwords.
Connecting NMI to CloudFFL
- In CloudFFL, go to Accounting → Configuration → Payment Providers
- Click NMI from the list of available providers
- In the Security Key field, paste the Security Key you copied from your NMI dashboard
- In the Tokenization Key field, paste your Tokenization Key. This enables CloudFFL to save customer card information securely for future transactions.
- Set the State to Test Mode
- Click Save
Start with Test Mode. Test Mode lets you run practice transactions without charging real money. This is the best way to make sure everything is connected correctly before you go live. Once you have confirmed that test transactions are working, come back to this screen and switch the State to Enabled to begin processing real payments.
