Enabling the Authorize.net Module

Enabling the Authorize.net Module

Authorize.net is one of the most widely used payment gateways in the United States. The good news is that Odoo 18 includes an Authorize.net module out of the box — you just need to turn it on. This module handles online and keyed-in card payments through the Authorize.net gateway (it does not manage physical card terminals).

Authorize.net is a built-in Odoo module — no custom installation needed. If you don't see it in the Apps list, it may already be installed on your system.

Install the Authorize.net Module

  1. From the main menu, click Apps.
  2. In the search bar at the top, type Authorize.net and press Enter.
  3. Find the module called Authorize.net Payment Provider in the results.
  4. If you see an Install button, click it and wait for the installation to finish. If you see a green checkmark or an Upgrade button instead, the module is already installed.
  5. Once installed, go to Accounting → Configuration → Payment Providers.
  6. You should now see Authorize.net listed as an available payment provider.

Authorize.net is a payment gateway only — it processes card-not-present transactions such as online orders, invoices paid by email link, and manually keyed card numbers. If you need to swipe or tap physical cards at a counter, see the NMI terminal setup guide instead.

What's Next?

After the module is installed, you need to connect it to your Authorize.net merchant account. Head to the Connecting Your Authorize.net Account page for the next steps.
