Dealer Transfer In (FFL to FFL)
Dealer Transfer In (FFL to FFL)
Sometimes you receive firearms from another FFL dealer rather than through a standard purchase order. This happens when a fellow dealer transfers inventory to you, or when you receive a consignment. CloudFFL handles this through the Transfer In workflow.
When to Use Transfer In
- Another FFL dealer is sending you firearms outside of your normal purchasing process
- You are receiving consignment inventory from another dealer
- A dealer is transferring stock from another location they own
Step-by-Step: Recording a Dealer Transfer
- Go to FastBound → Acquisitions → Transfer In.
- Click New to create a new inbound record.
- In the Partner field, select the FFL dealer who is sending you the firearms. This contact must have an FFL number on file in their contact record.
- If the dealer is not in your contacts, use the FFL Lookup feature: click the search icon next to the partner field and enter their FFL number. CloudFFL will look up the dealer and create a contact record automatically.
- In the firearm lines section, click Add a line for each firearm you are receiving.
- Enter the details for each firearm: Manufacturer, Model, Type (Pistol, Rifle, etc.), Caliber, Serial Number, and Condition (New or Used).
- Set the Acquisition Type to "Transfer."
- Review all the information, then click Confirm.
- CloudFFL creates the
fastbound.inboundrecord and commits the acquisition to FastBound. Serial numbers are also created as lot/serial records in Odoo inventory.
Example
You receive 2 firearms from Smith's Guns & Ammo (FFL# 1-23-456-78-9A-01234):
- Ruger 10/22 Carbine, .22 LR, Serial: 0012-34567, Condition: New
- Mossberg 500, 12 Gauge, Serial: U987654, Condition: Used
After confirming, both firearms appear in your inventory and in your FastBound bound book as acquisitions from that dealer.
Important: Always verify the sending dealer's FFL license is current before accepting the transfer. You can check FFL validity on the ATF's FFL eZ Check website. Receiving firearms from an expired or invalid FFL is a serious violation.
Tip: The Transfer In form records the transfer type as transfer_in internally. You can view all inbound records (transfers, trade-ins, and direct buys) under FastBound → Acquisitions → All Inbound Records.
