Importing Products from FastBound

If you already have firearms listed in FastBound and want to pull their compliance attributes into CloudFFL, the Import Products wizard lets you look up a product by serial number or item number and automatically populate its manufacturer, model, caliber, item type, and importer from FastBound's records.

When to use this: Use Import Products when you have existing products in Odoo that need their compliance fields filled in from FastBound data. This is especially useful during initial setup or when onboarding inventory that was previously tracked only in FastBound.

Where to Find It

Go to FastBound → Configuration → Import Products. This option requires the FastBound / Manager security role or higher.

Step by Step

  1. Navigate to FastBound → Configuration → Import Products. The Import Products wizard opens.
  2. Select the FastBound Account if you have more than one configured.
  3. Select the Product you want to update with FastBound data.
  4. Choose the Search Mode:
    • By Serial Number — Enter the firearm's serial number
    • By Item Number — Enter the FastBound item number
  5. Enter the serial number or item number in the search field.
  6. Click Look Up. The wizard queries FastBound and displays a preview of the item's details: manufacturer, model, caliber, item type, and importer.
  7. Review the returned data. If it matches the correct firearm, click Import Data.

What Happens on Import

When you click Import Data, the wizard:

  • Sets the product's compliance attributes (manufacturer, model, caliber, item type, importer) to match the FastBound record
  • Marks the product with the Requires FFL Compliance flag
  • Automatically creates any missing reference data entries (for example, if the manufacturer does not yet exist in your SmartLists, it is created)
Important: This wizard only updates product compliance attributes. It does not create acquisition records, bound book entries, or inventory. To log an acquisition, use the standard Purchase Order receipt workflow or one of the inbound order types under FastBound → Acquisitions.

Tips

  • If the lookup returns no results, double-check the serial number or item number against your FastBound account.
  • You can run this wizard multiple times on the same product — each import overwrites the previous compliance attributes.
  • After importing, open the product form to verify the compliance fields were populated correctly.
