Warehouses vs Locations

CloudFFL uses two levels to organize where your products are stored: warehouses and locations.

Warehouse

A warehouse represents your physical building — your shop, store, or storage facility. Most FFL dealers have one warehouse (their store). If you have multiple locations (a storefront and a separate warehouse), each one is a warehouse.

Locations

Locations are areas within a warehouse. Think of them as specific spots where products sit:

  • Stock — Your main inventory area (default location for everything)
  • Showroom — Items on display for customers
  • Back Room — Items in storage
  • Safe — Secured storage for firearms
  • Repair Bench — Items being serviced

Default Locations

Odoo creates some locations automatically:

  • WH/Stock — Your main stock location
  • WH/Input — Where incoming products land before being put away
  • WH/Output — Where outgoing products stage before delivery

For a simple single-store setup, you can use just the Stock location for everything. Add more locations only if you need to track where items are within your shop.

Tip: Keep it simple. Most small FFL shops do fine with one warehouse and the default Stock location. Add more locations later if you find you need them.
