Opening a POS Session

Opening a POS Session

Before you can ring up any sales, you need to open a POS session. This is like opening the register at the start of your shift.

Step by Step

  1. Open the Point of Sale app from the main menu.
  2. You will see your configured POS (e.g., "Main Counter") with an Open Session button.
  3. Click Open Session.
  4. A dialog asks for the Opening Cash Balance — enter the amount of cash currently in the drawer (e.g., $200.00).
  5. Click Open.

The POS screen loads and you are ready to start ringing up customers.

Why the Opening Balance Matters

Entering an accurate opening balance lets CloudFFL track your cash throughout the day. When you close the session at the end of your shift, the system compares what should be in the drawer (opening balance + cash sales - cash refunds) to what you actually count. This catches errors and keeps your books accurate.

Multiple Sessions

If you have more than one register configured, each one opens its own session independently. One cashier can be running the main counter while another handles the range counter.

Tip: Always count your cash drawer before entering the opening balance. Do not just guess — start accurate to end accurate.
