The POS Screen Layout
The POS Screen Layout
When you open a POS session, you will see a screen divided into a few main areas. Here is what everything is and where to find it.
The Product Grid (Left Side)
The left side of the screen shows your products as clickable tiles. Each tile shows the product name, image (if you added one), and the price. Click a product to add it to the current order.
Above the product tiles, you will see category tabs — these let you filter products by type (Handguns, Long Guns, Ammo, Accessories, etc.). Click a category to show only those products.
The Order Summary (Right Side)
The right side shows the current order — a list of everything the customer is buying. Each line shows:
- Product name
- Quantity
- Price per unit
- Line total
At the bottom of the order summary, you will see the order total including any taxes.
The Numpad
The numpad on the right lets you type in quantities, prices, or discount percentages. Select an order line first, then use the numpad to adjust values:
- Qty — Change the quantity of the selected item
- Price — Override the price for the selected item
- Disc — Apply a percentage discount to the selected item
Key Buttons
- Customer — Assign a customer to this order (top of the screen)
- Payment — Proceed to payment when the order is ready (bottom-right)
- +/- — Increase or decrease the quantity of the selected line
- Delete — Remove the selected line from the order
Top Bar
The bar at the top of the POS screen shows:
- The current order number
- A search bar for finding products by name or barcode
- The menu icon for accessing session settings, order history, and closing
Tip: Spend a few minutes clicking around the POS screen with no real customers. The best way to learn the layout is to explore it hands-on.
